Summer 2024 in North wales

It has begun. The North Wales school summer break is officially underway and we know that it can be a challenge to find activities and events to encourage our young community to participate in positive activities.

It’s okay though. We’ve been working closely with the local organisations providing timetables of activities and one-off events over the summer period.

We’d like to share some of the offerings here so you can see them all in one place.

Conwy Council, Conwy Youth Services, and Conwy Family Services are providing a wide range of activities that can be found here: https://www.conwy.gov.uk/en/Resident/Education-and-Families/Family-Information-and-Childcare/Events-and-Activities/School-Holiday-Activities/Summer-Holiday-Activities/Fun-Filled-Summer.aspx

Conwy Youth Services have an extensive timetable of things to get involved in: https://www.facebook.com/GIConwyYS/posts/pfbid0DEcT47UzoLZecWomsz2scJDyzjonuXsLRw7acLe5pa7DG8o1gkijQyDtxZLkUhSZl - lots of wonderful people and guidance for older teenagers at Ty Hapus on Wednesday afternoons. Get along to speak to people who can support you with what you want to do in September, as well as engage in summer time activities in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

Colwyn Bay Community Hwb is open 7 days a week over the summer, with Gaming Club running from 11am to 6pm; alongside access to basketball, table tennis, VR, board games, as well as consoles: https://www.facebook.com/ColwynBayCommunityHwb

Conwy libraries are wonderful all by themselves, with fantastic staff, services, and the Summer Reading Challenge. Over the summer they are also home to the Marvellous Maker craft sessions https://www.conwy.gov.uk/en/Resident/Education-and-Families/Family-Information-and-Childcare/Events-and-Activities/School-Holiday-Activities/Summer-Holiday-Activities/Arts-and-Crafts/Conwy-Libraries-Summer-Craft-Sessions.aspx for those of you eager to create in a calming space.

Tape Community Music and Film have an exciting timetable of activities over the month of August https://www.facebook.com/share/p/Gfj7crTBFLKrhtrr/, we’re particularly looking forward to the Mario Kart contest!

As well as timetabled activities from the organisations above, there are also one off events and important organisations that provide support for young people in the local and surrounding area.

Youth Shedz

Not just for the summer, Youth Shedz are a wonderful group of people supporting young people in a multitude of ways. https://www.youthshedz.com/

Creating Enterprise

A local event this weekend is The Big Picnic:

Bring your whole family for a fantastic day out at the heart of Colwyn Bay! We're hosting a **Big Picnic Celebration** filled with fun, food, and festivities for everyone to enjoy. Here's what you can look forward to: Delicious food, crafts: Get creative with local stalls and craft activities for kids and adults alike, entertainment: live music, performers, and fun games to keep you entertained all day long.

Coming very soon is the popular National Day for Play, held in Eirias Park. The National Play day is part of the awareness days campaign. Family Fun Day

Not too far away is the Penmaenmawr West Family Fun day with lots of activities for the family.

Finally, we’re hoping to encourage playing on the beach for all with the upcoming installation of a Beach Toy Library on the prom between Porth Eirias and The Pier. More on this in the coming weeks.

We hope you have a wonderful, safe, adventurous, restful summer and that the organisations above can support you through with fun-filled activities and time to connect.
